The National Kidney Foundation
The National Kidney Foundation, Inc. (NKF), is the major voluntary health organization dedicated to preventing kidney disease, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation.

NKF achieves life-saving results today through the contributions of generous people like you, who participate in NKF signature initiatives such as the Kidney Cars Vehicle Donation program, Kidney Walks, and the April Open.

The Washington, D.C., metropolitan area leads the nation in the prevalence of kidney desease, with more than a half million people affected, more than 4800 individuals on dialysis, and 1700 awaiting kidney transplants.

Proceeds from the April Open stay in our community to help fund NKF's regional activities, such as Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP). This initiative focuses on the early identification of patient risk factors for kidney disease and its two leading causes: high blood pressure and diabetes.
